UNESCO Team members Fethi Mansouri and Amanuel Elias are working together with adjunct Alfred Deakin Institute member Santosh Jatrana, to better understand the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse people around road safety. With funding from the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning, their three-month research project, titled Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Needs and Gap Analysis – literature review, jurisdictional scan and data analysis, will begin soon.

Project Description

Culturally and linguistically diverse Victorians face unique challenges when it comes to road safety and there is a lack of data and research into the issues affecting them specifically. A needs gap analysis is required to explore the issues and systemic barriers confronting these communities in relation to service accessibility and road safety education.
